Death of Charles Cavill.

PARTICULARS BY THE MAIL. (By Telegraph.) (Per Press Association.) Auckland, This day. News by the 'Frisco mail shows that Charles Cavill, champion swimmer of Australia, was drowmed at Stockton, California, while an exhibition in Jackson's baths. He was in fine condition. His last act was to stay under water a longer time than five minutes five seconds, the world's record. When Cavill was under six minutes Kahu, realising that something was wrong, dived for Cavill and brought the body to the surface. All efforts at resuscitation failed. It is believed he was suffocated by gas, which gathers in these baths, as there w r as no water in the body.
