William Bennington, a ganger of platelayers on the Rangiora section of railway, dropped dead this afternoon while assisting to survey in the Ashley river bed. He was about 45 years of age, and leaves a family of 15 children totally unprovided for. Dunedin, This day. William Stronach died to-day at Cromwell from the effects of an accident by which he had a leg cut off by a wire rope in the Cromwell coal mine, of which he was the proprietor. Eev J. D. Russell was thrown out of a trap near Greatford on Tuesday and dislocated his elbow. His children were also thrown out, but escaped unhurt.
