A MINING CASE. [By Telegraph.] (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This Day. In re the Progress Mines of New Zealand, Ltd., the Court of Appeal upheld the decision of the Commissioner of Stamps that the company was liable to the payment of the annual license fee under the Stamp Act. The Court considered that under the Memorandum of Association the company could entirely abandon mining work and give itself up to company promoting and share jobbing, and it did not therefore within the exemption of companies formed exclusively for mining purposes. Costs were allowed the Commissoner on the lcwert scale by agreement.
