Before the Transvaal Raid Committee of Inquiry, Mr Charles Leonard who played an important part in the projected rising at -Johannesburg, and afterwards escaped to England, stated in evidence that Mr Rhodes, after the raid, almost went on his bended knees and implored him to use his influence with the Dutch Party.
