Grecian Reserves Refuse Service.
THE PREMIER APPEALS TO THE PATRIOTISM. BUT WITHOUT RESULT. THE PORTE IN NO HURRY FOR A SETTLEMENT. Athens, May 18. Several hundred reserves in Athens have refused to proceed to the front until they are exempted from beiug summoned for service. They taunted M. Ralli, the Premier, with having refrained from sending his own son to join the army. M. Rolli appealed to their patriotism, but in vain. Berlin, May 13. It is reported here that Turkey demands a war indemnity of eight millions. Constantinople, May 13. The Foreign Embassies are urging the Porte to agree to an immediate truce. The Porte has not yet replied. The Greek Government complains of the delay on the part of Turkey in agreeing to the armistice, and contends that it is unfair, especially since Greece consented to recognise the autonomy of Crete, though neither Britain nor Russia insist upon the withdrawal of the Greek troops from Crete preliminary to the armistice.
