The Wellington Poisoning Case.

FURTHER PARTICULARS. (By Telegraph.) (Pt r P>- ess Association.) We Islington, This day. The Post states that singular rumors are still current respecting the sensational poisoning case into which the police is conducting an inquiry. The actual locality of the alleged crime is believed to be a remote little jgnlago nestling among the hills with 111 20 miles of Wellington and the victim a settler about 60 years of age. The story goes that about 10 years ago he wedded a young wife, and, as frequently results from such marriages, there was unhappiness. About three years ago the husband became ill and died, the doctor in attendance on him giving a certificate in the ordinary way as nothing of a suspicious character was noticeable. Time went 011 and with its passing the young widow, it is said, found consolation with a man whom she did not marry but with whom she lived, and a child arrived. Later on this man drowned himself, but before doing so he wrote a letter to an acquaintance directing that it was not to be opened until a certain lapse of time. The contents of this letter shows that the suicide was intentional and furthermore indicated criminal connection with the poisoning of the husband of the woman with whom he had been living. This letter fell into the hands of the police, together with other information concerning a conversation heard and thought nothing of at the time but which now form links in the chain of evidence.
