At the request of a deputation from the council of the churches, the Premier proclaims May 2nd as a day of humiliation and prayer for rain. Heavy snow has fallen in the Omeo district, in some places Ift. deep. At the Druids' Gala band contest the first prize cornet solo was won by G. Glennie, Invercargill Band, and the first prize for euphonium solo by A. Ferguson, Invercargill.
