At the Commercial Travellers' Conference it was resolved to write to Mr Seddon pointing out that the tax on travellers was injudicious and unjust, and to urge its removal at an early date, or if found impracticable to abolish it it be materially reduced. Melbourne, April 20. The long-continued drought is playing sad havoc with stock and crops, especially in the Riverina district. Sydney, April 20. The Governor to-day unveiled in Hyde Park a life-sized bronze statue of the late W. B. Dalley, which was raised by public subscription. The ceremony took place in the presence of a distinguished gathering, and speeches were made eulogising the late statesman. This day. At the inquest on Larsen a verdict of wilful murder against Johnston was returned.
