At the inquest hold on Tuesday at Hirangi on the body of John Shore, 7-J, found in the Waitara river on Monday, the evidence .showed that tho deceased had a weak intellect and was given to wandering. A verdict of accidental death was returned. ArcKr.AND, April If). Alexander M'Donald, a storekeeper, at Wairaauku, committed suicide ou Sunday evening by taking .strychnine. Deceased is said to have been drinking for some time past. After he had taken strychnine he told his wife and a gumdigger of what lie had done, and the usual remedies were applied but without success. He leaves a wife and live children who, it is said, are totally unprovided for. The Hawera Star says that a rather peculiar accident happened to Mrdeo. Jeffs, in the employ of Mr li. R. Lenelian on Thursday. He was skylarking " with a fellow employee m tho yard, and was chasing him when the latter doubled : in turning Jeffs bent his leg under him, fracturing the bone just above tlx; ankle. The injured man was taken to the hospital and had the broken limb set. The accident is unfortunate, for .fell's has a wife and young family dependent upon him.
