The curtain was rung down on Saturday evening at 6.20, after a storm over the composition of the Address the Queen, which has been passed by the Upper Chamber. Mr (t. Hutchison was in great form, and read an address in terms of his own. He ridiculed the phraseology of the Premier's proposed address, and in this he was supported by Messrs Roulston, O'ltegan, Scobie M'lvenzie and Sir Robert Stout. Eventually the Address was affirmed by 89 to 20." Government have promised to introduce the Fair Rent bill next session. Mr Seddon informed the House that the Government intended to strictly enforce the law regarding the contract with the Midland Railway Company. The Beetroot Sugar Bill and the Old Age Pensions Bill are amongst the promised measures for next session. In reply to Mr T. Taylor the Premier said the matter of the prosecution of the directors and officials of the Colonial Bank was for the Supreme Court to decide. Mr Tegetmeyer, a London financial authority, has been offered the managership of the Bank of New Zealand. Mr Cadnum has promised that tickets will be issued to Volunteers attending shooting matches at very much reduced rates. Most of the southern members wont south by the Te Anau yesterday.
