SPORTING NEWS.
Musketry was scratched to-da.v for al! engagements at the C.J.C. meeting. The Nelson Cup was won by Lovesbot yesterday, The Miser aocosul. and Nero third. L>iv., £'j 12s. Much Ado won the hurdles. Div., £2 2s. The Grand Stand fell to Hills-one who paid £2 14s. The two Xyriii Island hurdkrs —Prince Charlie and Tally-ho —engaged at the (uristchurch meeting are unlikely starters. The ownership of the former is in dispute and Tally-ho will probably be saved for the local winter meeting. Mr Douglas's jumpers arc being prepared for the winter meetings. Old Mutiny is said to going as well as ever and Donald MeKinnou ha> almost recovered from his K indwick accident. The locally bred Jim Campbell, by Patriarch out of Princess Itoyal (King's Dowman's dam) lias 7 7 in the Wairarapa iiack Handicap. Twenty-four horses are nominated for the race.
