[From our own Correspondent.] Napier, This Day. GENERAL ITEMS. For being illegally on the premises of Ross and Glendinning John Driscoll received three months' and Daniel Watt 14 days' imprisonment at the S.M. Court yesterday. - The match between the Hastings and Napier bowlers on the latter's green this afternoon is looked forward to with interest. A good contest is certain. * At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce yesterday afternoon a long discussion took place the telephone service. A motion was ultimately carried :— '■ That this Chamber, while not objecting to the increased rates fixed by the Government to be charged to business subscribers to the Telephone Exchange, on the ground that the service so far has left an annual loss, desires to draw the PostmasterGeneral's attention to the great deficiency in the number of modern instruments in Napier, and to ask him to furnish the local exchange with a sufficient supply of new instruments j to satisfy the requirements of subi scribers."
