[By Telegraph.]

(Per Press Association.) Auckland, This day. A deputation of employees of the Chelsea works of the Colonial Sugar Company waited on Mr J. C. Firth, one of the founders of the New Zealand Company, and asked him to bring under the notice of Mr Seddon before his departure for London the fact that owing to German and French bonuses the beet sugar export trade of the Colonial Company here is being seriously impaired, and a large number of workmen have been dismissed. Unless something sis done to protect the local industry more dismissals will follow.
