Assault and Robbery.

Gisbokne, Tuesday

Patrick Morris, a fisherman, has been committed for trial on a charge of having on Saturday night assaulted Sarah Cameron in Gladstone-road and robbed her of £lO 16s.

Mrs Cameron deposed that the accused accosted her in the street about 9 o'clock at night. She said he had made a mistake, but he follwed h r -r, and presently swung his arm round, struck her, and knocked her down. Accused ran away, and she found that her pocket had been turned inside out. Her pocket contained ten £1 notes and about 16s in silver, the notes being tied together in a roll. The notes and silver and a handkerchief had all gone.

Morris was arrested as he was leaving for Napier, and eleven £1 notes in a roll were found inside his shirt.
