The Auckland Goldfields.
AN INSPECTOR'S OPINION. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, This day. The Hon. T. Russell was interviewed after inspecting the English mines here. He was asked " then you have 110 lack of confidence in the future of the district," to which he replied, " I have not, and I would like the people here to have confidence too. Their goldfields are a magnificent asset, destined to bring a vast amount of money, and .Auckland will be a large place. I cannot speak too strongly of the; future of the industry. It will be a source of prosperity to the whole colony. The mines will sustain a large population of miners, artisans, and laborers, who will be better customers than the English for farmers' beef, mutton and other produce-, for they will consuine it in the colony; and the farmer having a good market at home w ill escape the losses now incident-to sending his produce to England.
