WELLINGTON SUBURBS SEAT.

It was currently reported that Mr Charles Wilson on the staff of the New Zealand Mail, who has already announced himself as a candidate for the Wellington suburbs constituency, had received the Government stamp and blessing. There must be a screw loose somewhere for Mr R. C. Ivirk, a well-known barrister and solicitor, a resident of Petone, and at present the Mayor of that effluvia exhaling borough has appeared upon the scene and announces his candidature in the Government interest. A Marlborough paper which, it is alleged, is edited from the neighborhood of the New Zealand Times, has been giving the electors of Wellington suburbs the " straight tip " that Mr Wilson is the right build, a long way better than the lawyer fellow ; but the appearance of the barrister on the track would seem to indicate that the Government have not made a choice of a candidate, and such we believe is the case. The matter will not be decided until the Premier returns from Australia. Mr Seddon will never run two horses for a race that can only be won by one, and as the barrister is better known in the distiict, there is very little doubt of bis being chosen to carry the Government colors. No Opposition candidate has as yet been named, possibly they are playing a waiting game, but from the information we can gatheu. we believe that the lion T. W. Hislop will again contest the electorate.
