(A; - JV- Association.) Auckland, This day. John Council, bus driver, was killed by a bus accident at Newmarket. The horses bolted and in trying to .stop them he was knocked down. The bus and horses went over him killing him instantly. Council was 65 years of age. Wellington, This day. Colonial Mutual Life Assurance "-rfFw'- have received a cable from the head office, Melbourne, stating that the tenders of Messrs Edwards and Palmer, Wellington, has been accepted for the building intended to be erected on the Custom House Quay. Woodvillk, This day. Fountaine Square, the gift of Mr T. G. Fountaine to the people of Woodville, was opened yesterday. It is two and a half acres in extent and in the centre of the town. Mr Fountaine formerly refused £IOOO fur part of it. The occasion was celebrated by a procession and fete.
