Mr Ben Tillett.
ARBIVAL OF THE ENGLISH LABOR LEADER. [By Telegraph.] (Z'it Press Association.) Dunedin, Feb. 22. Mr Ben Tillett, the well-known English labor leader, who arrived by the Aotea yesterday, was accorded a public reception this evening by the Labor Unions and others. Mr S. C. Lyon, president of the Trades and Labor Council, presided, and among those present were the Hon. W. M. Bolt and Mr J. Millar, M.H.R. Mr Tillett was presented with an aedrcss of welcome and in replying he spoke for some 85 minutes. He urged the workers to combine ; capital was always ready to combine when there was any purpose to serve and labor should follow the example. He gave the history of the labor movement in England and said the opposition to unionism was more strenuous thau ever. Mr Tillett "was also presented with an original poem written in his honor. Although his health has improved he is far from well. He intends visiting the Lakes district and should his health permit he will deliver an address when he returns.
He goes to various ports with the Aotea and returns to the Homo Country in her.
