THE MEETING.
Wk believe Ministers have definitely decided to call Parliament together on the 18th March, at any rate this is the information given us by our Wellington correspondent. It is known that the Hon. R. J. Seddon is anxious to accept the Imperial invitation to visit London in connection with the record reign fetes, and the Opposition have expressed a willingness to afford him every facility in the matter. If Parliament meets on the 18th March, we fancy we can see trouble ahead. The Opposition will insist upon knowing the state of the finances, and seeing that the financial year is so near its close and that Mr Seddon need not leave the colony until May, the Opposition would be justified in demanding to know the state of the finances. Mr Seddon may object that there is not time, if so their will be a prolonged debate and much bickering and fighting which may destroy the Premier's cherished hopes. The Leader of the Opposition during his recent trip South has had ample opportunity of discussing matters with his friends, and we have no doubt that he will so far as he can, consistently with the demands of the public interests, do his utmost to enable the Premier to visit London.
