The Madras authorities are appealing to Lord George Hamilton against the decision to open Port Mecca to pilgrims. The graving dock sanctioned by the Admiralty for the accommodation of ironclads will be constructed at Colombo.
The Hon J. Chamberlain has engaged suites of rooms at the Hotel Cecil for the colonial Premiers who visit England in June to attend the Queen's record reign celebrations.
In the House of Commons a Bill, introduced by Mr Charles Wilson, M.P. for Hull "West, to close public houses on Sundays was rejected by 57 votes.
