Mr John O'Meara, member for Pahiatua, while riding a bicycle through the Manawatu Gorge, went over the bank 30ft on to the jagged rocks. He was hauled up insensible by a rope. He is badly cut on the scalp, mouth and nose, and is bruised all over. It will be weeks before he is about again. The banquet at Mangatainoka in his honor has been put off.
