Te Mare in Eruption.
[By Telegraph/ {Per /Vf.vs Awe in ti" n.) Auckland, Jan. 20. Te Mare has again c-omiueneed activity, although a strong south, rly breeze scatters the eruptive matter, preventing a good view being obtained of the mountain from Taupo. News from Tokaanu states that the erupts started at about i a.m. yosternot so heavy as previously. At Taupo a rather prolonged earthquake was felt yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock, preceded by a rumbling. This probably .-ouio connection ■with Te Mare's proceedings. OfiiNGAixi, Jan. 2G. On Monday Te Mare was again in eruption, tremendous clouds of dust being thrown out. Cobb's coach, which left for Wanganui river to-day, had a thrilling experience, being caught in one of the dost storms. Everything was as black as night and the booming of the mountain was distinctly heard at Tokaanu this morning. No earthquake shocks have been felt.
