EUROPEAN AND FOREIGN. (I W I'ns.-i Ax>;.ri<(ti»H Coj'i/riifltt.) London, Jan. 19. Mr Billion has been elected leader of the Irish party in the House of Commons. Mr Tim Healy protested against his appointment. Jan. 20. The Benin expedition has been increased by 1100 men. The operations will be under the command of RearAdmiral H. 11. Raw-son, of the C'ape and West African station. Capetown, Jan. 20. Thirty-five meetings have been held at Capetown with objects antagonistic to Mr Cecil Rhodes, and held as counterblasts to the ovations recently accorded Mr Rhodes. Caiko, Jan. 20. A force of 12,000 Dervishes is massing and will confront 6500 Italian troops and friendly natives at Agordot. St Peteeskukg, Jan. 19. M. Wasilcowsky, President of the Russian State railways, who was fired at by an Armenian named Zac-harow in December last, died to-day from the injuries received. Zaeharow committed suicide after firing the shot. Jan. 20. It is semi-otficially announced that the Czar is in the best health.
