Dunedin, Jan. 15. The above match began on the Carisbrook Ground to-clay in fine weather and on a good wicket. Otago batted first, but only succeeded in knocking up 93, Baker 34, Fisher 11, Parker 18, and Haydon 13, being the only ones to reach double figures. Hoare took six wiekets for 55 runs, McClinchy two for 22, and Miller one for 11. The Queensland team started well, having lost only five wickets for 128, the principal scorers being Jones 25, Donahoo 20, McClinchy 17, Hoare 27, and Lewis 17. This day.
