MASSACRE BY PAGANS.

(PtT IY'.'-w Association—( London, Jan.l2. Reports have been received ' from Bonnytown on the Niger Coast Protectorate, announcing that the warriors of the Pagan King of Bargu massacred an expedition sent out for peaceful purposes. The party included Consul Phillips ; Major C'opeland Crawford, Vice-Con-sul; Captain A. M. Boisragon, Commandant of the Niger Coast Protectorate force ; and several members of the Consular stall', civilians, and the Native carriers. The telegrams to the British Government from a British Commissioner hi the Niger Coast Protectorate, merely reports that the members of the expedition had been captured ; but adds that fears are entertained that they have been murdered.
