In spite of the Embassies of the Powers inviting that the new trial of Colonel Mazhan for alleged complicity in the murder of Father Salvatere should be held in Constantinople, the Porte has decided that the trial shall be conducted at Aleppo, a town in Asiatic Turkey. Dr. Maram, an Italian serving in the Turkish army, was arrested and sent to- Erzeroum. On hearing of the- arrest, the Italian Embassy at Constantinople made representations to the Turkish authorities with the result that Maram was at once released from Erzeroum.
