(/'<•/' I'rrss Axxnt itltinn.) ArcKLANu, This day. The annual session of the Court of Convocation of the New Zealand University was held yesterday. Eighteen graduates were present, including several teachers who have been attending the institute. At the meeting several resolutions were brought forward. but were ail rejected. That which caused mo-f discussion was one in favor of allowing outside students to proceed with the degree in Arts without keeping a term. An eight-roomed house at Mount Roskill, owned by J. J. Boak, clerk in McKay, Logan, and Co s. warehouse, was destroyed by lire. The family were away holiday - making. The house was insured for i'-100 in the Ne<v Zealand office, and the furniture for t'l7-) iu the same office. Nkw Plymoi tii, This Day. The Mahinapua took awny HHIH kegs of butter from the local freezing works to-day under shipment for the Otarama, together with :Soi2 kegs despatched on Monday last. Tbe season's output of dairy produce promises to largely exceed that of former years, and the establishment of freezing works ensures its shipment in first class order. Bi'.rNM i; iun, This day. Three miners engaged in the Brunner mine were charged with being in the mine with matches in their possession. They pleaded ignorance of the regulations and were fined 10s each. The Bench intimated that they would inflict a heavy penalty in the future.
