AN EXTRAORDINARY SCENE.
ATTEMPT TO STOP Pli TEMPLE S CONSECRATION. (.[\ r IW*. A**> .. In—i »»•//'f.) London, Dec. 22. A remarkable scene took place yesterday at the confirmation of the election of Dr Temple as Archbishop of Canterbury, The Rev Mr Brown-John, Chaplain to the late Bishop of Bath, protested on the grounds that Dr Temple had confessed he was a believer in evolution. Dr Maclagen, Archbishop of York, Chief Commissioner, overruled the objection, bat Mr Brown-John twice reiterated his protest, and declared the a farce. "There was an immense congregation.
