SEEING what a hold Trotting has taken in Hawke's Bay, I have succeeded in buying the Trotting Stallion " TIP-TOP." He is a dark bay, with black points, three years old, and. stands 16 hands. "Tip-top"' is by Judge Belden out of Lily Vermlont He had twelve mares last season, and all are in foal, which proves that he is sure. Knowing full well that his breeding cannot be picked to pieces, I intend to offer him to the public this coming season. He is exceptionally quiet and good-tempered, and is a performer, having run first in Auckland, third in Hawera, and second in New Plymouth. Society's Show, beating five others. Sire, Marquis of Salisbury, g. sire Lord Salisbury, imported from Scotland. You will see" by the sires that the Earl of Salisbury is second to none. The Earl of Salisbury's dam is the purebred Clydesdale mare Pride's Darling (611) imported from Victoria by Mr John Trestrail. Pride's Darling s sire was Cox's Pride of Scotland (imported) dam Fanny by Bothwell (imported), &c., &c. Pride's Darling gained a first prize at Dunedin- Show in 1886 and a first prize at the Taieri Show in the same year. Also firsts at Dunedin and Taieri Shows. 1887. In 1888 she gained first prize at the Taieri Show. The Earl of Salisbury is good tempered and a sure foal getter. Terms, £4 4s, payable January 1, 1897. Good paddocking for mares at Is 6d per week.
