(I't-r ['res* Assoriation.) A house occupied by Andrew Casey, Tamaliere, was destroyed by fire on Saturday afternoon, and nothing saved. The house was insured in the New Zealand for £l5O, and the furniture was uninsured. Casey lost £lB in cash. Tobias Tobias, commission agent, Auckland, is bankrupt. He made a sworn statement before the Official Assignee on Saturday, stating that he came to the colony four years ago from Melbourne, where he was in business as a commission agent in turf matters. In the year 1H92 he instituted divorce proceedings against his wife. In May, IH9B, these proceedings came to an end by the case being given against him. and he was mulcted in costs .amounting to ±'27l, the immediate cause of tiling being that he was summoned for the costs referred to. A complimentary dinner was tendered to Mr C. F. Major at Hawera on Saturday by his supporters. He was presented with a numerously signed address.
