A relief fund for the sufferers by the Stockton colliery accident lias been established. It is only a- the members of the rescue parly recover from the effects of the poisonous gas that anything like an idea of the work performed can be obtained. One man named Dryly displayed conspicuous bravery. No less than six times the brave fellow rushed into (he death-dealing atmosphere and returned alive. Some comrade-! when called upon also : fearlessly entered the workings, but returned no more. The sensation cati-» <l by the gas iterrible. Dryly describes it as affecting the legs, with a sensation of momentarily increa.-inj the weight, with an inability to run.
