A Confessed Murderer.
The officer in charge of the Belleville Police Station, Paris, was surprised to receive the visit of a woman, who addressed him in the following terms : —" My name is Marguerite Huyinen, I am a dressmaker, 26 years of age, living in the Passage Pressoir, and lam here to give myself up for the murder of my lover. Crique, 39 years of age." Seeing surprise written on the man's features, his visitor, putting a blood-stained knife on the table, continued, " Oh ! I am not mad. We were always quarrelling, and I could stand it no longer, so I stabbed him twice in the chest with this knife. He fell all of a heap at the foot of the bed. If you go to the house you will find the body." The woman was detained in custody while constables were sent to verify her story. lier victim, who was still breathing, was conveyed to the Teuon Hospital, where he now lies. His life is despaired of.
