At an inquest on the body of the child found in the Wellington harbor yesterday, the medical evidence showed that it had never breathed; that no doctor or professional nurse could have attended the mother; and that the body must have been in the water four or live week:;. The volcanic activity on Tongariro continued nil last week, the scene continually changing, the most interesting outbursts being best seen from Taupo. One day it was Ketetahi, next it would be Te Mare, while Ngaruahoe regularly emitted white steam, but the other two were erratic. It is from Te Mare that the real eruption, which is accompanied by dirt and smoke, comes. There is every appearance of a fresh outlet above Te Mare. A party of tourists intend ascending the mountain this week, and their guide will examine the locality ana report any material change or alteration.
