The Auckland branch of the National Bank shipped hy the Rotomahana five boxes of bullion containing i>'627oz, valued at £GSOO. The shipment is to be forwarded to London by Uie Tongariro. On last rabbit day the natives brought 20,000 skins. They report that weasels are spreading rapidly in the King Country and proving destructive amongst the rabbits. The Wangamii AYesloyan Synod commenced to-day. In his address to the members of the Synod the Chairman (the Rev. G. Bond) congratulated the ministers on the firm stand taken on the side of Prohibition. Messrs W. Sussex and R. P. Keal were recommended to the Conference as candidates for the Ministry. Misses Moore, Eraser, and Smith, three Dunedin young ladies, leave on Friday for Central China on mission work under the charge of Mrs Anderson, of Glasgow.
