News from the New Hebrides states that the volcano Ambryo is again active, and i* covering the island with volcanic dust, which is destroying the vegetation. Earthquake shocks are of frequent occurrence, and the natives fear another serious eruption. According to English trader* French influence in the group is grad«nUnconsolidating, and settlement extending. Part of the £1""»,000 granted by the French Government to the French Trading Company is being spent bringing out immigrants.
