Australia v. Dunedin.
[By Telegraph.] (/'(■/• /'/v.s-.v Association.) Dcnedin, This day. The Australians commenced a match against fifteen of Otago on Saturday, in the presence of a large attendence. The weather was fine, and the wicket was in good order. The Australians were the first to bat, and were all disposed of for 130. Iredale (84), Hill (33), and Trott (31) were the principal contributors. Fisher was the most successful bowler taking G wickets for 39 runs. At the conclusion of the day's play Otago had lost two wickets for 30 runs. TO-DAY'S PLAY. May was resumed shortly after noon. The weather was calm and the wicket fairlj' fast. No stand of any importance was made until Clayton and Downes got together and quickly altered the complexion of the game, both batsmen making several hits. At 77 Trumble relieved Trott and Downes drew his first ball high to on where Darling took it comfortably. The fourth ball of the same over beat Clayton. Liggins made seven . strokes for 2, and retired with the score at 84. Spraggon treated the bowlers with the greatest disrespect, and almost wholly by his exertions the Australians total was passed.
