Macario. the Papal envoy in Abyssinia, states that Russia is organising an Ethiopian colony, and her action is considered to be a menace to Egypt, as it is her intention to use Abyssinia to fight against the English in Africa. M.Vf'KIIN Nov. 11. Twenty - thousand reinforcements are being sent to Cuba. Pah is. Nov. 12. The French newspapers interpret Lord Salisbury's refusal to relinquish Acre as at present occupied as applicable to Egypt, and evince irritation, though statesmen recognise that the apathy of the central Powers renders it fruitless to raise the question of evacuation at present. Washington, NOV. 12. An expression of good feeling towards Great Britain is general throughout the United States, and the terms of the settlement of the Venezuelan dispute are regarded as honorable to both nations. The King of Sweden will probably be asked to nominate a jurist as the fifth arbitrator.
