Messrs George Fisher and H. D. Bell have been nominated for the Wellington Mayoralty. James Miller, commission agent, dropped dead in the .street at Dunedin yesterday afternoon. He was seen to throw up his hands and fall down, and on assistance reaching him he was found to be dead. He is known to have suffered from a weak heart. He was about 70 years of age and leaves a grown up family. His wife is at present absent in Napier. The Christchurch Arbitration Court sat yesterday morning to hear and determine upon matters referred from the Concilliation Board in connection with the dispute between the Operative Bootmakers' Association and the Manufacturers' Association. The members of the Court are Mr Justice William and Messrs H. Thomson and R. Slater. The representatives of the operatives opened, giving reasons for objecting to the decision of the Concilliation Court. Three witnesses were heard on behalf of the Bootmakers' Union, which objected to an award of the Concilliation Board. The Court then adjourned till Saturday. Dr Jennings has been elected president of the Christchurch National Association in place of Mr W. Jacques, resigned.
