Napier Horticultural Show.

Tkom Oca O'.VX CoRKi:«PO.SI>KNT.] Natikh, November 7. The Horticultural Association is holding its annual show ill the Gaiety Theatre, and, altogether, the display is a most creditable one. The cut flowers ate very numerous, and, the season having been exceptionally favorable, the blooms are particularly well formed and vigorous The principal pritto takers in cut ilowers are Mrs Randall and Messrs -7. H. Coleman, W. C. Yctes and H. Williams. The bouquets both of adults and juveniles are particularly numerous and very line, and make a little show of their' own. A fine show of ferns and pot plant.* is also made, particularly by Mrs Randall and Mrs W. Forrest, who took the bulk of the prizes in the open class. In the cottagers' class Mr Vv. Reid is the most cotbibitor of ferns, A noticeable feat tiro of the children's class is a big collection of jjr.iws, evidently gathered frn.ii near and far. There is nor a large display of vegetables (the Chinese having refrained from exhibiting), but what there are are well grown, and an object lesson of patience and industry. A novelty in connection with this show is a "trimmed hat" competition for ladies. The competitors have to trim certain hats provided with natural foliage and flowers, and a ballot is taken to decide the most meritorious exhibit. Last night Miss A. Bishop was awarded'the pi li i exhibitors, receiving 2-1 id 17 gentlemen's votes. A i Vnlei'son, with a total of 29 vot . i 1 Miss Bennett with a total of 25 were the next best according to popular fancy.
