Hastings S.M. Court.
At the S.M. Court this morning, before Mr S. Turnbull, S.M., judgment was entered for the amounts claimed in the following cases :—W. Carter v. T. Bremner, 7s Gd, costs, Gs ; Barry Bros v. F. Wills, lis, costs, 7s ; W. R. lily the v. Komana, £27 lis Bd, costs 395, and solicitor's fee, His Gd ; J. P. Thomson v. W\ Green, £BS, costs, Gs. H. Rattray (Ebbett) v. S. Speer (Lewis), judgment summons for £ll 7s, £5 of which was paid into Court. Order made for immediate payment or a week's imprisonment, to be suspended for one month. G. Roach (Ebbett) v. W. Greening, £9 9s lid, costs lis ; Drs Faulknor and Linnev (Lewis) v. J. Stanley, £4 17s, costs lis; same (Lewis) v. J. T. C'assin, 10s, costs Gs; same (Lewis) v. Ere Te Hapu, £5 ss, costs, £2 4s. Same (Lewis) v. W. Lincoln (Ebbett). —Mr Ebbett explained that the summons was served on his client, who was not responsible. Mr Lewis admitted that an error had been made in serving the summons, and on Mr Ebbett's application the Court allowed Mr Lincoln 80s expenses. Farmery (Lee) v."olsen (Sheath) — This was a case brought by the plaintiff for the illegal detention of a horse, and damages for the losses resulting therefrom. Mr Sheath applied for an adjournment for a month in order to produce an important witness. Mr Lee opposed the application on the grounds that the notice of Mr Sheath's intention to apply for an adjournment was not received by him until it was too late to prevent his witnesses attending. His Worship granted a fortnight's adjournment, and, on Mr Lee's application, witneses and solicitor's expenses were granted.
