The Price of Cycles.
The demand in England is now practically over for LS96, August 1 '.and Holiday being always regarded by n a uifacturers as the end of the season. But all of them are preparing for an increased demand in 1M97, although nearly everyone that can afford a bicycle and wants one is already supplied. Competition in 1897 will be very fierce indeed, and many authorities expect to see prices and profits come down altogether. The reason for the recent flooding of the English markets with American machines is due to the fact that in the States the boom is over, and there is a glut, so that makers have either alm< s: to give bicycles away, or ship them to Europe. It needs no superior intelligence to prophesy that England %\iil soon be in the same position as the States if manufacturers keep on enlarging their works and increasing their output as they are doing, and for investment purposes shares in this depal tnent are very risky holding.— London paper.
