There is a split in the temperance ranks which must seriously jeopardise their chances at the general election. The Prohibition League and the Sons and Daughters of Temperance, feeling that the Temperance Political Committee was being used to advance the interests of candidates who place Socialism before Prohibition, withdrew their delegates last week. Tlius it was that Mr Begg, who is regarded as the arch-fiend of Prohibition, failed to secure nomination on Saturday night.
