The Napier electoral roll is being printed at the Hastings Standard oflice, and that of llawke's Bay by Mr A. A. George. A tnngi was held to-da v at the "\Yaipatu L'ah in connection witli the decease of the young son of Taranaki. A large number of Natives attended. The 11. I>. Education Hoard has resolved to call for tenders for the building of an addition to the Hastings school to accommodate 200 children. It is to be hoped that it will be pushed on with all possible speed, as the attendance is daily increasing and the teaching staff is greatly hindered in its work. The concert in connection with the Hastings Brass Hand to be held in the Princess Theatre to-night should attract a crowded house. The object is a good one, and the band is deserving of every encouragement. A good programme has been arranged, and the pick of local talent have promised their assistance, including Mesdames Price and Faulknor, Miss Smith, and Messrs llyan. Joil, Fowler, Goldsmith, Kirkpatrick, Ilolroyd, Barrett, and King. The Band will also render choice items at intervals. Tickets for the Art-union may be obtained at the door. One of the most successful sales ever held in the district was conducted by Mr \Y. Y. Dennett yesterday on the premises of Mr T. Bowes, of Greenmeadows, who intends leaving for Sydney. There were upwards of 300 present, and as the bidding throughout the day was spirited the prices realised were in almost all cases exceptionally good, the sale running over «£7OO. The auction commenced at 10.30 a.m. sharp, and continued, with an interval for lunch, until 6.15 p.m. Luncheon on an extensive scale was hospitably provided for the visitors by Mr Bowes, and Mrs and the Misses Bowes were indefatiguable in their attention to their guests. The company have accomplished record business wherever they have appeared, and in conjunction with Edison's latest invention. '• The Kinematograph," they should easilv fill the local Theatre on Tuesday night next. The box plan is now open at Mr Hani's.

The Native Land Court was again adjourned to-day in order to allow one of the claimants to obtain counsel. The Minister of Lands is at present on tour visiting Danevirke, Norsewood, and Woodville.
