NAPIER NOTES.
[From Que Own Correspondent.]
Napier, October 21. I regret to say that Mr F. Saunders the secretary of the Harbor Board, who has been seriously ill for some time, shows no signs of improvement. It cost the High School Board of Governors £7G 4s 6d to drain the school grounds. We are to have another visit from Haskett-Smith the "Oriental Lecturer " who recently announced from a Wellington pulpit that war had been declared between England, Russia, France and Germany over the Turkish question. The City Band is to give a concert in Clive Square this evening in commemoration of the battle of Trafalgar. A Napier citizen had a bad experience last night. He was passing Clive Square when a small boy " cheeked" him. He forcibly remonstrated and got a whack on the back of the neck with a large stone. Court proceedings to follow.
