A NARROW ESCAPE.
AN UNPLEASANT SENSATION. Sydney, This day. A miraculous escape from what seemed instant death took place at the Inverell mine. While in the act of stepping into the lowering bucket the rope became unfixed, and two miners, named Grant and McCann, were hurled for a distance of '23 oft. down the shaft. Fortunately the rope proved a little short, and thus checked the cage before it reached the bottom. The men received a, severe shock, but were otherwise uninjured.
