Sydnkv, Oct 17
As a fresh development of the Slater-Slocum incident, on the information of Captain Slocum, Slater has been bound over to keep the peace for six months. The information stated that Slater, in addressing a crowd, used the woids, •• God help Slocum when we meet; I will not be responsible for my actions. I will make an angel of him when I get hold of him." Slocum, in giving evidence, said he wanted protection of his life, as he believed Slater was likely to carry out the threats. Slater denied using the threats but admitted saying to a crowd, " You are making a little god of Slocum, but if we meet 1 will make him - a little angel." lie declared to the Bench that Slocum had ruined his life, and he hated him with the bitterest hate ; he would not do him a good turn if his salvation depended upon it.
