So far as New Zealand is concerned we are promised an extension of trade in frozen meat. There is no doubt that the prejudice against our meat is a formidable factor, and it will take time to wear this down, but with the active assistance of so powerful an institution as the Wholesale Co-operative Society the work will be accomplished in a much shorter time than we anticipate. We must not forget that New Zealand is indebted to Victoria for the visit of the Co-opera-tive delegates. When the sister colony found herself in the hole of depression, she set about the task of climbing out, and one of the ladders used for this purpose was the encouragement given to the export produce trade. Government entered fully into the project, and with the energetic assistance of the people much good has resulted. It would be impossible to recount all the measures taken to boom the produce trade, but we may note this fact, that Victoria believes in " drummers." She believes in sending expert canvassers to the great market of the world. Victorian " drummers " must be experts, a Freyberg would not stand a chance with them. Following out this course a Mr James M. Sinclair was sent to London as the representative of the Victorian Minister of Agriculture. Mr Sinclair's instructions are to report to the Minister on all matters connected with the advancement of the produce trade, and this gentleman k earning golden opinions for the very able manner in which he is discharging his duties. It was through Mr Sinclair that the Cooperative delegates were induced to i visit the colonies, and Victoria partii calarly will profit very largely from
