WOOL SALES.
AN UPWARD TENDENCY
London, Oct. 18. Trices are firmer all round at the wool sales, and a .stronger tone is observable. The first series of wool sales next year opens on January 19th and the second on March oth. Svunkv, This day. At the wool sales yesterday a much firmer market was experienced, with increased business. (iood crossbreds and merinos have advanced }d per lb compared with last week's rates. Mku-.C'l'iink. This day. At the owning of the wool sales of the season there was a large attendance of buyers. There was a heavy fall in prices, though competition was very vigorous. Merinos show a decline of ten per cent in broken, and pieces 7' ; crossbreds 5 to 7.', compared with the early sales of last season. The purchases were evenly distributed between English, Continental and local buyers, but Americans were absolutely quiescent.
