DR. HOSKING AND PROHITION.
[To The Kditok. Sin, —I saw by a letter in your last night's Sta\dai:i> that the Rev. Dr. Hosking is doin.tr all he can to try and pet up a debate between Mr J. T. M. Hornsby and himself either at Wellington or Hastings on the Prohibition question. In fact, he has challenged him. I also saw by the Stam>aiu> one day last week that the Rev. Dr. was going to Dunevirke on a week's lecturing tour, and while there, he is going to have a debate with a Danevirke man on the same question. Prohibition ! Now Sir, I should like to know whether the I)r. thinks his congregation here pays him to be travelling all round the country debating and quarrelling with everyone he meets who might differ with his extreme views, for if he does he is sadly mistaken, as he will shortly find out, as numbers of them are full up of his ways of working. Let him rather put on the spirit of love taught by the Great Master and work for the salvation of souls as is a minister's duty, and leave this arguing and harranguing on Tirosh, Sheckar, yayin alone, while his own church here is spiritually starving. Thanking you in anticipation. —I am, kc.. Meuhuhst.
