THE CRICKET DISPUTE.
SOME MORE LIGHT ON THE QUESTION. Syunky, This day. The secretary of the Cricket Council has received a letter from Mr Musgrove which shows a little fresh light on the dispute, but rather confirms the weakness of the position taken up. He says that the action of the Council in ordering the team back came as a surprise, but, on the other hand, it is difficult to see where the surprise comes in as previous to their departure he was given a distinct notification by the Chairman of the Council of a motion passed and duly minuted to the effect that the team must disband by November 30th. Mr Musgrove argues that the team assumed financial responsibility, against which it is ttrged that the team was very prompt to recognise the authority of the Council when finding themselves short of money at Adelaide, and the Sydney Cricket Ground and the Melbourne Clubs advanced £'3oo. This was refunded, but had the tour been a failure it is not at all likely that the manager of the team would have borne the brunt of the liability.
